Understand the business idea
Profit measures performance over a period; cash flow records money movement. A profitable business can fail if payments fall due before sufficient cash arrives.
In an examination response, the idea only becomes useful when it is connected to the organisation's objective, resources and market. A seasonal events business must buy equipment in February but receives most customer cash between May and August.
- Can you define the central concept precisely?
- Can you identify evidence that makes the concept relevant to this business?
- Can you distinguish a possible outcome from a guaranteed outcome?
